Equality Impact Assessments
Equality Training

Based in Glasgow, we are a team of specialists working on an associate basis to deliver equality projects and training programmes across the UK. We have significant experience and have advised and trained organisations on equality and diversity, including conducting equality impact assessments, drafting equality outcomes, producing equal pay aduits, and delivering equality and diversity training.

We have worked with the Scottish Government, the Law Society of Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, Borders Council, Creative Scotland, SportScotland, Scottish Courts and Tribunal Services, General Teaching Council Scotland, the Royal Geological Society, Education Scotland and the Scottish Funding Council.

We have particular skills in assessing for bias in the implementation of job evaluation processes, and are commonly asked to advise on the design of pay and grading to avoid discrimination.

Our approach is proportionate, relevant, practical and engaging. We aim to demystify the legislation, which can seem complex in detail, but is fairly simple in essence. We are able to make staff understand why equality and diversity is important, and what they can do to help level the playing field, and ensure that their organisation can meet the diverse needs of our country.

Examples of Work

Scottish Borders Council

Equality Impact Assessments

We are supporting Scottish Borders Council in equality impact assessing their HR policies. This has included a review of equality evidence, drafting the assessments and recommending revisions to further advance equality in internal processes.

Sports Council Equality Group

Review of Standard

We worked with Sport Scotland and the UK Sports Council Equality Group to review the UK Equality Standard for Sport. This Standard is a framework to guide sports organisations in advancing equality by widening access and increasing participation.

Creative Scotland

Assessing Inclusion

We were appointed to assist Creative Scotland in considering how its proposed Strategy would affect protected groups. This included an evidence review looking at access to, and employment within, the arts, screen and creative industries.

Scottish Criminal Case Review Commission

Board Development

We were asked to design and deliver equality and diversity training for this Commission. This tailored training for Board Members focused on how good practice in equality and diversity can assist good governance, and how equality can be mainstreamed.

Equality Pay Tool

We developed a Liveflo Equal Pay Tool to guide employers in carrying out Equal Pay Audits. The Tool takes employers through each step of the process, and assists the production of a systematic and comprehensive Equal Pay Audit.

Garden North Chambers

We reviewed a Code and Constitution for a Chamber of Barristers to ensure that they embedded the standards set by Bar Standards Board and its guidance on promoting diversity within the profession.
