Equality and Diversity Training

Raising awareness of equality and diversity issues through training is vital in embedding an inclusive culture in your workplace. It is a positive action to promote equality in terms of your obligations under the public authority equality duties, and can also help you defend claims of discrimination.

Some organisations offer employees separate equality and diversity training in each of the equality strands of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age. Other organisations take a combined approach to equality and diversity, where one session covers all strands.

Your approach will depend on what best suits your needs, resources and priorities.

Fraser Consulting can deliver general or specific training to your organistion in house, or can train the trainer to enable you to deliver the sessions yourselves.

There are certain core objectives, namely:

  • to provide information about the current fundamental principles of UK discrimination legislation
  • to identify the grounds on which discrimination can occur
  • to clarify the many forms that harassment can take
  • to encourage employees to recognise, understand and reject stereotyped assumptions, prejudice and negative attitudes towards certain people or groups
  • to consider the use of inclusive language in promoting a diverse workplace
  • to raise awareness of the employer's policies and procedures relating to equality and diversity and the prevention of discrimination, and their underlying values.

Practical exercises relevant to your workplace, and the issues you face, will be used to familiarise your employees with your equal opportunities policies. Clare Fraser has an upbeat approach to equality and diversity training, which ensures that participants are relaxed and comfortable.
